What did you do before you worked for SOFEA?

I have had a varied career. After 25 years as an Army officer I have spent time as a supply chain consultant in developing countries, as the Operations Director for a large catering and cleaning contract for Sodexo Defence and managing large outsourced waste contracts for local authorities in London.

Why did you decide to work for SOFEA?

I needed a short term job, SOFEA needed some expertise for a short time. After a month in the job I decided this was what I wanted to do. Thankfully, Richard and the Board felt the same and I have been here since 2019.

What is the best thing about your job?

Watching the transformation of young people from scared, troubled and difficult individuals to mature, flourishing and wonderful adults. This is the most satisfying, frustrating and heart warming job I have ever done.

What have you learnt since being Employed by SOFEA?

I have made a personal pledge not to fly until air travel is zero carbon.
